NCSBN conducted a study to examine the relationship between passing the NCLEX examination and the amount of time elapsed between becoming eligible and actually taking the examination.

Practice and Professional Issues Surveys are conducted by NCSBN to collect information from entry-level nurses to measure the preparation for practice and describe the transition activities of newly licensed RNs and LPN/VNs. The study also explores the relationship between educational preparation and involvement with medical errors (©2006).

A National Survey links the elements of nursing education to perceived preparedness of new graduates for nursing practice (© 2006).

This annual publication provides national and state summary data of Member Boards’ licensure activities, as well as data on candidate performance on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN examinations. (© 2006)

A significant role for most state boards of nursing, whose mission is to protect the public, is the approval of nursing education programs in their state. As part of this process, many of the state boards review their schools’ annual pass rates of first-time NCLEX-RN candidates and compare these percentages to state regulations. Schools whose pass rates fall below the state standard risk losing the approval of their state board of nursing.

This annual report functions as a formal summary of NCSBN’s performance and activities during fiscal year 2006. It also provides financial information, NCLEX pass rates, member achievements, a timeline of NCSBN activities and NCSBN facts.
